Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo puts 2,600 demos up for sale on a web market he built himself

"I never thought I would be releasing those. I don't know what's in them."

Christmas might have come early for die-hardWeezerfans in the market for rare B-sides. FrontmanRivers Cuomohas just dropped a whopping 2,655 raw demos for sale online.

The material went up for sale on a web market that Cuomo himself built for a final project in aweb programming course he has enrolled in, offered by non-profit learning platform edX.

The raw demos span decades of Cuomo’s career as a solo musician and with Weezer. Because there are so many tracks, they’ve been organised into bundles by various eras.

Due to the candid nature of the demos, Cuomo cautioned on his website that some demos “may have silence”, “be wildly inappropriate” or “have super low sound quality”. He added in a note to buyers: “I really appreciate it when you alert me to stuff that shouldn’t be in a given bundle or shouldn’t be released at all.”

“Please let me know if there’s anything I wouldn’t want public in all the voice notes,” he wrote. “I never thought I would be releasing those. I don’t know what’s in them.”

Each bundle is on sale for $9 despite having wildly different runtimes. For example, a master session ofGravity Will Bring You Downhas a runtime of about 15 minutes, while the bundle titledAlone XI: The EWBAITE Yearsruns 38 hours and 25 minutes.
